I think we all have important thoughts and ideas and good work to do. We all have valuable gifts and talents that God wants to use for His glory. But I think many of us have decided that it’s easier to watch and comment on the game than to play it. We are armchair quarterbacks, quick to think we have all the answers and slow to actually jump in and help the team.

As I write this, I realize that I am in danger of doing this exact same thing. But sometimes, an insight bubbles up to the surface and I just need to share it. My oldest and I have a habit of responding to the word “they” with “who?” It’s easy to complain about a vague “they” but when we take the time to dig deeper, we see there are people beneath the complaints and often ways that we can contribute.

And so, I want to make sure that I’m not just being an armchair quarterback. Instead, I want to join the game and play my part. I challenge you to do the same!
